i was using kdm fine up until last week until i tried out gdm and then decided to go back to kdm.

I have a DELL Latitude 840 with debian install i was having some
problems with kde because i need to install it but it said i was had
broken packages and couldnt reintsall, so i switched over to gnome for
a while but when i tried to switch back to gnome both gnome and kde
stopped working. everytime
i recently used aptitude update and aptitude dist-upgrade and accidentlly removed kde
I tried to aptitude the kde packages but there was a broken package kdeedu but since i dont that need that one it was alright.
I then tried to start kdm and it wouldn start so i did aptitude install
