recreating as much of the files as possible, which needed crazy huge amounts of

a damaged hard drive. It is a rather laborous way of doing things but it

- get a live cd, like GRML, Knoppix, System-Rescue
- boot the CD
- if you can, make a backup of your harddisc with dd to an other one.. (like
a USB HD)
