Hi, everybody. I managed to solve the ACPI problem by compiling my own
2.6.20.6 kernel. I also had to tweak around a lot before I could get
iptables working properly, but now it's fixed.

wired behaviour with the screen and acpi stuff. First of all suspend my
laptop (Thinkpad T30) crashes usually after suspending for the second
time. Second my display light goes into saving mode whenever I log in

In this case boot the kernel with the bootoption 'acpi=off apm=on'
in /boot/grub/menu.lst. It's an ugly drawback, though, and
maybe your lap doesn't even support APM anymore.

sources, and I ran into troubles. First problem I had was that battery
was not anymore detected (/proc/acpi/battery was empty). I googled
around and I found a solution adding "ec_burst=1" to boot param

acpi, and the suspend2 patch, all in a recent kernel with the most
current version of the ibm-acpi module.
So far I haven't been able to get all three of these together in one
