You're lucky. Unfortunately the sarge install puts
auto eth0
in the /etc/networking/interfaces file, which means that it tries to
bring the network up before the PCMCIA ser

Oops, I've made a typo on my first message, it wasn't 3c50x but 3c59x (the same
driver that you are using).
Are you using the "sarge" (beta3) version ?
