As far as I'm aware the fglrx drivers don't support the card ;(
I'm fairly sure i've had direct rendering working on this in the past
- at least i vaugley remember playing Tux Racer at a decent fps at
some point ;)

You might want to read stanchina's howto and use his debian packages,
although I'm unsure if the fglrx proprietary driver is compatible with
the M3. I suppose it's worth a shot if you want direct rendering...
