Hello
I have problem with impressive and gnome-shell on my Laptop.
After I run impressive gnome-shell seems to crash and I get graphic
errors (eg. blue screen, window movement is not updated). It seems
that just gnome-shell is affected by this, it all works fine in xfce.
best,
Max

So, I think this should be a problem with some configuration with powersave.
Anybody can help me?
Thanks!!
Max
e of the /etc/hibernate/hibernate.conf:
### sysfs_power_state
## To use /sys/power/state to suspend your machine (which may offer
## suspend-to-RAM, suspend-to-disk, standby, etc) comment out all the options
## above for Software Suspend 2, below for acpi_sleep, and uncomment this line.
## You may replace mem with any one of the states from "cat /sys/power/state"
UseSysfsPowerState mem
PowerdownMethod shutdown
A think that after a resume the system loses the X configurations of the touchpad, but I don't know why.
Somebody has some solution?
Thanks!!

problem still persists.
After some time using the laptop, the battery status disappear.
If I give the command: $ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/status
I receive:
present: yes
ERROR: Unable to read battery status
The dmesg command shows:

Hi,
I have the same problems on a Fedora Core 3 with the 6629 drivers. I
tried some tricks but they didn't work. You may read these posts on the
NVidia forum to see what I tried:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=43577
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=43799
I tried
and i could get it work with the dri-trunk at
http://dri.sourceforge.net/ using this tutorial (in german)
http://www.student.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/~zeimetz/R40-Debian/node47.html
(can use google to translate if needed)

I'm 'repairing" (huh!) my IBM thinkpad (P1). I
mistakenly delete reference to the A drive in the bios and now, having exhausted
my ingenuity, I can't get back into the BIOS to remedy the error.
Any ideas how??

e reason I ask this is that esd seems to conflict with several
apllications (quake 2 & 3 is what i can think of, sometimes wine also
doesn't like it), i usually have to kill it to make things work

Sorry for the badky written post. I should make myself a little more clear.
What I wanted to say was that libesd0 works and libesd-alsa0 doesn't.
What's strange is that i've got libarts-alsa and arts startrs up just
fine...

It would also help if you could tell the list which release of debian you
tried to install. The videocard drivers for X may very well be too old
for you if youre using potato with xfree 3.1.x...
Hope you won't give up that easy...

on your network, if you are running WINS, you
might like to try the WINS servers (they might be running DNS as well).
That's it.

I just want to thank Glen for asking that question on how to configure your

on PCMCIA, cos I've just got mine to work - DHCP et al. I am, for once, a

If you get hassles with network setting up, forget about configuring

cos it will only mess
