Debian users,
-how many of you are running Gnome?
-how many are running WindowMaker (me)
-If not WM,then which windowmanager doyou use/prefer?
(I have and am used to WindowMaker. Was thinking of playing with Gnome
for a bit.)

Generally speaking, what whould cause my laptop to freeze?
Dell Inspiron 4100.
Just installed debian woody,then upgraded kernel to 2.4.18
Still no Xwindows working but getting close (I get the black/white
checkered screen with the big X in the center but nothi9ng happens -

Dell Inspiron 4100...ATI Radeon
Starting over, since other things werent happening, I went to
xfree86.org and downloaded via ftp XFree86 4.2.0
Removed the old X and then Ran the install script - all went well.
In the past I used xf86coinfig. Now I see there is xf86cfg, and
believed this to be

I really do like debian but this is REALLY beginning to piss me off,
not being able to get X to work at all.

Well, a little more than that...
Just =RENAME= the extension to .iso
filename.raw -> filename.iso
Then use a cdburning program to create CD from an image adn point it

in the mean time I said screw it, removed lilo, apt-get grub and boy did I
mess things up. Now all I get is the prompt GRUB>
If I run fdisk froma dos boot, I can see
hda1 win
hda2 linux ext2
hda3 linux swap
what a mess! getting ready to wipe it all!
