Framebuffer on a 800x480 screen

Hello ! I'm trying to get my toshiba Libretto 100CT work on the console with it's full 800x480 Pixels (100x30 chars) screen. I tried SVGAtextmode, but it failed in a way that made me give up: It seemed like it had made the console sending a carrieage return after 80 chars and sending no line feed.

I am trying to get debian up on a thinkpad 755c. First off, I know, I know, it is a very old machine and would be put to better use as a boat anchor. It's not mine. I belongs to a friend and he is simply trying to extend the life of this machine. With that out of the way here is what is going on
