Hi all,
To learn a bit more about debian and linux, I tried compiling a new kernel
to use for my Toshiba Sattelite 1800-S514.
I got everything working, except my D-link-networkcard. It's a D-Link
DFE-680TXD. The card is recognised during startup as an ADMTek Centaur,

if anyone could point me to a *current list of external [usb or fw] +/pr pcmcia
soundcards for linux i would be great and full.
bloddy getting this ALSA maestro3 module to insmod is a bugger [even though
kernel support is fine and reliable --i want ALSA!!]

Hi there.
After a lot fo trying and failing, I ask thee - "What am I doing wrong?!"
I am trying to get my sound working on my Thinkpad 390. According to lspci
there is a NeoMagic MagiceMedia 256AV, which seems correct.
Downloaded the ALSA source and tried to compile my module.

(I don't actually have an answer, but I strongly suspect that drives
with a higher rotation speed [and better performance] will suck up
noticably more battery life.

Hallo,
ich habe Woody auf einem Thinkpad 600E (128MB RAM,10GB
HDD) installiert, und bin begeistert - die Wireless
LAN Karte (Netgear) lief "Out-of-the-box", der externe
USB CD-Brenner war ebenfalls in ca. 5 Min.

I got Debian woody 3.0 work on my Inspiron2600!
Congratulation to Debian and XFree86 team

If you really want to write to NTFS and can accept the risks (You have a
regular backup) You can enable write support for ntfs in the kernel config
(its in the fs section) but I wouldn't recommend it. What I have is an ntfs
c drv and a small -1 gig fat32 d drv. It really is a bad idea to write to
