The idea of using the bootable CD that came with the thinkpad was a good one: it worked! This thinkpad came with its own bootable cd for restoring the windows software originally on the machine. This cd boots to a dos program, and you can escape to a dos prompt via F3. This DOS recovery program a

Hallo! I struggled several weeks to get a custom made 2.4.x kernel running that also supports this IBM Turbo 16/4 token ring PCMCIA card. A warmly recommend to use Alan Cox kernel patch ( I used ac18 ). This token ring card worked straight out of the box after compilation. I removed all extra mod

Jörgen, as a first quick "hack" try to move the /etc/rc2.d/S20inetd entry to a backup place. For example: cd /etc/rc2.d mkdir backup mv S20inetd backup This should do no harm unless someone wants to connect to your laptop from outside. I thought about what could cause the inetd to hang at sta
