hmmm i just made what must be my 5th set of
rescue/root diskets an it worked... thanks for the

I struggled several weeks to get a custom made 2.4.x kernel running that
also supports this IBM Turbo 16/4 token ring PCMCIA card.
A warmly recommend to use Alan Cox kernel patch ( I used ac18 ). This token
ring card worked straight out of the box after compilation. I removed all
extra mod

as a first quick "hack" try to move the /etc/rc2.d/S20inetd entry to a
backup place. For example:
cd /etc/rc2.d
mkdir backup
mv S20inetd backup
This should do no harm unless someone wants to connect to your laptop from

I've tried installing debian from a cd. After gone
through the installing process pc hangs when I reboot it. It says something like
"Loading superinternet : inetd"
I'm kind of a newbie on this so I would be greatful
for any help.
