Hi,
About XIRCOM:

Actually, 2.4.0 has a problem with filling /var/lib/pcmcia/stab
correctly (bugview 78391). The card itself works, but the automatic
configure scripts fail to work (/dev/modem links to /dev/tulip_cb, which
doesn't exist, and dhclient statrs with wrong parameters),

I just upgraded my kernel to 2.2.17 and in the process broke something.
I have a PCMCIA ethernet (eth0) card and a PCMCIA serial modem (ppp0). Majority

OSS has drivers that work. www.opensound.com. A permanent liscense is $30, but
free to download. Time limited trial version, but you can reinstall them over
and over until a free driver becomes available.
I used them on my HP n3310, worked great.

I installed X11 and I'm using window maker, the video driver I select was
MACH64, it works good but in the right most of screen I have a little
flickering column, what should I do to eliminate that problem ?

Thanks a lot David for your help,
In the case of my Xircom Network Card Interface I checked at xircom web site
and the information is that is not a winmodem.
They indicated a beta driver for it, not produced by them. I'll try to use
it.
Where did you get XFree86 4.0 by Debian distribution ?

I have a CPx 750 (just a wee bit faster is all), so I can certainly give
you a hand.

Oh, I wondered why my hardware clock was losing around 4 minutes/day. How long
are they supposed to last - I've got a NEC VersaNote that's 2 years old. I would
have thought

HI All,
I'm trying to reinstall Win98 on my laptop (don't worry I just want a
little practice using fips so that I can install Debian on a friends
laptop:). Anyway I repartitioned and reformated the drive but when I
try to boot from the hard disk it prints:

to the screen and then hangs.
