Actually, I'm a little confused too. I've just tried booting the system
without the noapic parameter and it worked. I've also tried booting the
current etch installer, with which I've installed my system, without the apic
parameter and it worked, also. Knoppix 5.1.1 Also boots successfully.

You can edit the entry. Press 'e' key and then edit the line of
kernel to remove the option.

installation? Is it likely that they will corrupt any of my data?
