but it doesn't see the card:

I think, at least once You saw the message in subject. It is common
problem: the /boot directory placed on separate partition that should be
small. If there are more then one kernel, the disk space will be
necessarily exhaust
This bug is fixed now.
I have tested the patch for kernel 2.6.31:

It is OK. Please include it in new release.
