Dear Maintainer,
First of all, thank you very much for maintaining
Debain's initramfs-tools package.
I love to see generous and civic minded people.

At the moment, it seems to me that bug#582487 and
#582088 are different, and I humbly suggest
un-merging them.
Thanks,

For what it's worth, I seem to have found a way to
work around this bug.
Here are the details.
I have an MSI (Micro Star) MS-6712 (KT4V)
motherboard.
It was running version 2.6.32-35 of
package linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 in squeeze.
I wanted to upgrade its RAM from about half a

please use debian installer standard installs.
I'd agree if I were installing a new system.
However, this is an existing system whose various
packages have been upgraded over time with
"apt-get install "
What do you think?
Thanks,

Thanks for maintaining debian's kernel packages.
They're a remarkable technology in more ways than
one.
Here's how I duplicate the bug.
1.) $ shutdown -r now
2.) ctl-alt-F7

FYI,
I noticed that sound occasionally stops working
for me under kernel version 2.6.18-4-k7.
I fixed it by removing and replacing two sound
modules as root

rmmod snd_mpu401
modprobe snd_via82xx
modprobe snd_mpu401

Thanks for maintaining Debian's kernel-image-2.4.27-1-k7 package.
It makes upgrading pretty easy.
The main reason I'm writing is to report that

Some people have claimed that a workaround is to
run cdrecord as root.
Running it as root allowed me and another tester
to burn a CD, but it sounds terrible. Worse than

Thanks for maintaining debian's kernel packages.
You're important.
The main reason that I'm writing is that it seems
version 2.6.8 of the kernel has broken cdrecord.
