Bug#372161: Reopen, bug not solved

hing. Someone who really understands how these packages work together should write a brief summary, and if that doesn't lead to code changes, I'm willing to write a documentation patch against whatever package it makes sense. Regards, Frank -- Dr. Frank Küster Debian Developer (TeXLi

package... Manoj, don't you think you should indicate in your package if development of Debian kernels and kernel-package has so much diverged that it gets hard for you to keep them working together (it seems you don't get support on this from the kernel-package maintainers...) gone! Now that sounds like a bad reason to close a bug. There's probably still some package which installs kernel headers, isn't it? > irc this is even a dup. In which case you should have merged it, not closed. Regards, Frank -- Frank Küster Debian Developer (teTeX/TeXLive) pgpJ6yyz5YVkp.pgp Description: PGP signature

rc/modules/thinkpad' Module /usr/src/modules/thinkpad failed. Hit return to Continue So the first thing that's missing is the file Module.symvers, later on also scripts/genksyms/genksyms is missing. Both seem to deal with modversions. Any idea which target I need to call to get that?

Well, that was the default mechanism. Are you kidding? Why should one compile the complete kernel, when all I need are some third-party modules? > I think you ran into a broken header package, or, at least, > one that is not condusive to building third party modules with >

Bug#369941: linux-image-2.6.16-2-686: Debconf question should be reworded, or upgrade mechanism made more clever
