* What led up to the situation?
This bug seems to appear randomly. At some point of running my laptop shuts
down wired interface (in all ~8 occassions i've been actively using network). I
am using alienware m17x la
I didn't find any workarounds. I'm not a pro debian engineer though.
As for xorg - you may check its verion via X -version in terminal.

Wrong, Lenny and Squeeze atm have xorg 1.4.

Just wanted to say that i'm getting similar issue with both radeon and
radeonhd drivers on xen-enabled amd64 kernel.
Other machine with nvidia card and nv driver on x86 xen-enabled kernel
doesn't experience such defect. So probably it's ati-specific.
