Hi
I believe this bug can be closed now. I posted the question on
linux-kernel mailing list. A reply came back about mtu issues.
Seems like I had 2 problems
net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 409687380 2097152
in my sysctl.conf, a hang over from long ago
and my mtu was set wrongly the route informati

Yes, and yes.
(I am still observing how well brightness settings last through boots.
I will mail back if they don't.)

Package: linux-image-2.6.25-2-amd64
Version: 2.6.25-6
Hi,
with the migration of kernel 2.6.25-6 from unstable to testing this
error is spreading to many machines.
Because this error and it's patch are known since may, this migration to
testing should have been avoided, for my understanding.
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.92e
Severity: minor
When upgrading recently I noticed initramfs-tools give the following warning:
Warning: Busybox is required for successful boot!
... but it isn't. I shut down, and rebooted perfectly successfully.
This happened on two different machines

I'm not certain that it's the same bug, but it's similar, so I'm
replying to the existing bug.
After upgrading to linux-image-2.6.25-2-686, I got a system hang
shortly after boot. It might have taken longer the second time, the
difference being that I spent a few minutes in console before logging
Kernel commandline parameter i8042.noloop is the trick.
1.) I appreciate Guillaume Morin's help.
2). But now, is this a linux (kernel, i8042, ???) bug or a hardware bug? Seems
noone from bugs.debian.org cares...
