It would be great if we could have a mechanism to avoid installing a newer
kernel if the packaged modules that the user has installed are not yet
available. A simple example: I have 2.6.18-5 with the corresponding
kqemu-modules 2.6.18-

The machine is stable since I run fsck on all the file systems some days ago,
it has not hanged again. Probably, the problem was related to some bug on the
file system code. There is no way to reproduce it and so I suppose the ticket
can be closed.

It seems I'm not able to read ACPI temperature or fan data on a box with
an ASUS P5B-VM motherboard. I think the appropriate modules are loaded
(see below: thermal and fan), but, nonetheless:
