Hello,
Apparently the initramfs-tools guys are refusing to implement the
--supported-* policy, and as such, the current packages will not allow to use
initramfs-tools, even though i designed it so that there should be no problem.
Well, after it almost came to blow and bad blood with maks about t
Hello, ...
I have upgraded SVN to 2.6.14-rc5, and did a powerpc build. The only
difference was CONFIG_AIRO, and the build completed fine, and i saw that
CONFIG_AIRO was enabled in other arches, so i suppose powerpc was added or
something such, not sure, but in general things will work out fine so

Hello,
This is related to #333003, but I'm filing a separate bug report as
requested on irc.
2.6.13-1 had CONFIG_FB_VESA=n, while 2.6.14-rc4 has CONFIG_FB_VESA=y.
Still, the obtained behavior is the same (blank screen), becaus

As my harddisk is for testing purposes only, I tried to install Ubuntu
Linux 5.10 (which uses a 2.6.12 kernel too) to verify, whether the error
comes on other debian based distributions. Indeed after installing the
base packages the system doesn't boot anymore, showing the same error

Jeff and Maximilian, i don't really understand what is happening here, the
plan i proposed on october 9 was sent to d-k as well as to the initramfs-tools
package, and i have seen no comment from you on this, and i even implemented
the solution in the svn repo, and jona

I hope that is good steps:
1. download kernel 2.6.12 from http://www.kernel.org or from disk of linuxforum
magazin
2. unpack archive to /usr/src/
3. cd /usr/src/*new_src_kernel*
4. make clean

The ABI revision in the version number is missing in those packages.

I did a bit of a poke around this symbols problem.
I puzzeled over it for a while. I began to wonder
if it might be caused byudevsynthesize[1] which seems
to be the major change between -2 and -4, and I completely
failed in all my attempts to reproduce the problem.
