So I recently installed Progeny, and installed their
KDE. Then KDE 2.2 came out, so I managed to uninstall
their KDE and install the KDE from unstable (with the
apt sources, etc.). apt seems to be as cool as
everyone says. Now, I want to upgrade to 2.2.1, and
this is a totally newbie question: Wh

This is a good idea. I understand and whole-heartedly agree with the
reasons behind Debian not mucking about with /op

I'm having a problem using the adobe symbot font in KDE. When I try
to select it in KOffice, I can't see the symbols -- it's just
helvetica or some default font. I see the same thing in the Control
Center font dialog, and in the K char selector.
My real problem is with installing external font
I'm running sid on my iBook, and I'm trying to play a CD. I start the cd in
kscd, but no sound comes out. Checking Arts Control, kscd is not attached to
arts. Is this a problem specific to power PC? Can anyone else successfully
use kscd?

There's already a wishlist bug against it in KDE. I added one in Debian as
well.

I recently upgraded my sid, and now xmms plays static when I try playing audio
when starting xmms with artsdsp. Unfortunately, I didn't notice what I had
upgraded to get this. I think that it might be an endian problem because it
sounds the same as when I used the xmmsarts plugin (which does ha

I'm running KDE3.1.1 on sid on ppc. I don't have the msttcorefonts installed.
I'm having a problem with the standard installed fonts. Comparing the outpu
from xfontsel and the possibilited offered by the KDE font selection dialog,
it seems that selecting Helvetica actually selects Helvetica Nar

Since I apt-getted up to 3.1.2 a week ago, Konqueror has trouble with
JavaScript. Yahoo! Mail thinks I don't have JavaScript, as do allmusic.com
and raiffeisen.ch. The best message I've seen is here:

Hi all,
I end up with one of the XFree courier bitmap fonts used when I view a
webpage that uses PRE tags. It seems that this font is hard-coded somewhere,
becuase the configuration doesn't allow the setting of this font. I've tried
setting all the fonts to obvoiusly odd values (like Chancer
I noticed that since upgrading to KDE 3.2, the Windows keys cause the Kicker
menu to be activated. This is really irritating because I have been using the
right Windows key as X's Multi_key (to write accented characters). So now, I
have no way to write accented chars.
I tried to see what was g
