I have found that in addition to the problems mentioned in my original post,
left-clicking on a .html file on the desktop will not open it - nothing
happens at all. Right-click and select "Open with Konqueror" and again
nothing happens, but selecting "Open with Quanta" or "Open with StarOffice"

I have the same combination of Debian Potato and KDE 2.1.2, and it works for
me. There is a noticeable delay after the pop-up comes and goes that I had
attributed to my 233 MHZ processor. I use a high speed (always on) ISP. If
you have to wait for a modem connection and download, the delay would
