I tried compiling kdenetwork and it fails to build. The old version that
is on my p.d.o website failed in a meinproc section, and a new checkout
from branch fails in a different spot. I also tried building all of KDE
using a new checkout from branch but there were various problems. Also

I just upgraded testing also (109 packages 40MB) with apt-get without
any problems EXCEPT libc6 upgrade failed as it was missing programs

After several nights fetching Ralf's packages, Linux Format put KDE3.1 onto
it's cover DVD, including sources and .deb's, so I thought I'd save time by
installing these instead. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to be the correct
version. After several fights with apt, dpkg and my brain, I eventuall

Does this mean there's something wrong with fontconfig or is it just the
interplay of KDE and fontconfig?

Thank you,
but I don't think there's something wrong with fonts.conf, because GTK and
Motif apps as well as OpenOffice have no problem displaying Helvetica. It
seems to be a KDE-only problem!
Sorry, I should have mentioned that before...
