Thank you, that's good news!
But, where can I get these debs. There are no debs at ftp.kde.org. Should I
use Karolina's debs or Ralf's? Are there already "your" debs? Currently I'm
using KDE 3.0
Its already in the KDE 3.1beta debs.

Just upgraded a machine to 3.1 beta2 and now the keyboard stops responding
when kdm starts. If I start kde via startx it works fine., Only under kdm
does this happen, any ideas?

I don't have the problem with the beta2 packages that were
on ftp.kde.org a week ago. Konqueror loads the page in 1-2
seconds.

I can confirm this using 3.0.3 (doesn't seem to ever finnish). Where

Maybe it has been fixed in a higher version of konqueror?

Your question seems to imply that KDE 2.2 is inherently unstable. I'd
say that's obviously wrong, especially when you admit at first
everything worked fine. Suggesting that KDE 2.2 is a bad or unstable

Hi Rob,
It is very difficult to help you but my guess is that you have hardware
problems. I used at one point to have strange freezes of my computer and I
cursed everybody : Linux, Xfree, KDE, Mandrake (that I was using at this
time) for my problem to discover later by running memtest86 an entir

Hi,
some webpages take extraordinary long time to load in Konqueror (all the 3.0.x
versions) on Debian (e.g. www.golem.de) while they load fast in Mozilla or
Konqueror on SuSE.
I remember someone posting this had something to do with IPv6 being compiled
as default into KDE (something like: kon

Hi All,
I've been driven to posting this message by various problems with my debian
kde installation that I hoped would go away but refuse to do so.
I'm running an apt-get updated and upgraded testing system, on an athlon 1.2
with 512mb, radeon card and scsi. I'm using 2.4.18 kernel and I've m

It looks like a pinning problem :
Try apt-cache policy kmail
That will give you the different pin values for your different deb sources.
Modify your /etc/apt/preferences file accordingly. It can be a bit tricky,
especially that there is no parsing of the preferences file to tell you that

Hi,
strange problem here. I wanted to upgrade to KDE3 by using a download.kde.org
mirror. "apt-get update" runs fine with the following apt line:

Even an "apt-cache show kmail" shows

KDE 3.0.4 works well on Debian and is in my opinion more stable than KDE 2.2.
I think you should upgrade if you use your computer mainly as a Desktop. If

Hello,
So basicly I used the earlier CVS version and modified that one. Then
you upgraded, and we have two different versions.
Yes, meantime I reviewed the files in CVS and compared to mine. BTW,
have you tried the current CVS version out, is it working for you? It
takes a lot of time to rebuild
I have Woody with a slightly buggy KDE 2.2.2 (sound server crashes).
I'd like to upgrade to KDE 3.0.4 in the proper Debian manner, but when I
set my sources -- even looking at UNSTABLE, I never see an upgrade for
KDE past 2.2.2.

I have one question regarding packaging in the CVS tree, last time I
checked KDE_3_0_BRANCH kdelibs and kdebase version was 3.
Hi, I have seen other people report the same problem, but there does not seem
to have been any resolution on this list. It appears as the screensavers for
kde 3.04 and now 3.04 are not working. All I have in my list is blank (which
works), random and xscreensaver. Xscreensaver works when I am
I just realized I hadn't been reading debian-kde mailing list in a
while. Oops. ;)
I found Karolina's debs and they seem to have good ideas (and manpages :)
in them that I will be merging into CVS soon. Thanks Karolina!
I think that I have corrected the -dev dependencies on arts, kdelibs,
kdebas
