Hi all, we actually have two lines connecting us and our services to the
Internet, a 2 mbit payed on a per traffic base, and a 512K flat payed.
We have 32 IPs on the 2 mbit and 64 IPs on the second line. We cannot
reconfigure or access the router. We would like to setup a linux box to
create a "bri

I have a problem...
apt/dpkg and friends dont write to /etc partition!!!
Some packages, with apt-get install command, create directories, but dont
create files. Only remove!
example.
aprosi9:/etc# apt-get install sawfish-gnome
[ ... Ok installation ... ]
aprosi9:/etc# ls -l /etc/X11/sawfish/sit
I'm having similar problem, with other exception. The only solution I'll
try will be make a deb package with alien from tomcat-full.rpm.

Riccardo,
You describe that you want all traffic originating from Net1 to traverse
Router1, and traffic originating from Net2 to traverse Router2, in order
to reach the Internet. That is called policy-based routing, and you can
implement it with iproute2 on Linux.
You cannot both multihome using

I wonder if /root/ shouldn't be accessible by root only per default? But
in which package can I find this one? Should I make a bug-report or do

If you want to deal with the hassle of DNS switch-over from Net1 to Net2
in the event of an outage, you can do that. You can also easily setup a
linux box or one of your Cisco routers to have two default routes. One
would be the flat-cost circuit, the other would be per-packet circuit.
The per-p

One problem I see with scp: no easy chroot jail, while with
ftp I think you can limit the logins to one directory (and
down) pretty ea
