I've attempted a gcc-4.3-build of glibc, available on
http://youpibouh.thefreecat.org/debian-hurd/glibc/
and it seems to work fine.
It also contains the DF fix, a liboil fix, and the use of
libpthread-stubs.
As upgrading from gcc-4.2 to gcc-4.3 is a non trivial change,

Yes, it's just that it takes a long time to compile, which is better
spent on other packages, so we don't build all glibc versions,

even start to track down the problem? What is the status of glibc on hurd
