I suggest to use +nmu1, this would solve most of the problems.
+nmu1 is greater than +b1 and it can be used for native and non-native
packages.
The policy should mention NMUs.

Yes, but it might also be used for some other
t-show-versions in C++ using
libapt-pkg and get an immensive speed up this way, as we'd be
able to utilise APT's cache (the cache should have all required
information in it anyway).
