This is the author's own response to the mount/umount security issues, and so

patches.

As this release fixes a serious security problem related to earlier versions

The configuration script for `kbd' is broken; on my system a value for
$consdev was never assigned, so `kbdconfig' wrote:

to /etc/kbd/config. The result is that at boot time:
ln -sf $CONSOLE /dev/console
creates a symlink /console -> /dev/console.
