Copying unicode.pf2 to /boot/grub was enough to get the 00_header script to
insert a section containing load_video into the config on my fresh encrypted
disk install without any other changes. Previously it couldn't find a font and

I have GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX="1280x1024x32" in /etc/default/grub and it is
enough to get load_video in the config, probably it should have some sane
default value on UEFI systems.
