an undocumented change in
a security-sensitive area. I'm still curious and feeling like this
should be documented somehow, but I'll happily let others decide how
important this concern of mine is important for Debian.

The patch was too big, so it did not make it to the list, but it is

It seems that this is part of upstream Git commit 61e00549 [1].
I'm not fluent at
noisy indentation changes filtered
out. These, and a few others changes I noticed while having a first
glance at the diff, are not documented in debian/changelog.
This makes the reviewers life quite harder.
