Try the attached patch if you like. It won't be included in 0.9.16, but
should work for your purposes.
I am currently testing what I proposed in the earlier comment in a

I definitely agree -- the documentation for this stuff is horrible all

to improve HAL/Xorg hotplugging. They are in upstream git, but I don't

It seems to be an intltool bug about its cache handling. During build
[1], intltool-merge command prints warning,
"Odd number of elements in hash assignment at ../intltool-merge line

Removing -c option from intltool-merge command line fixes this bug.
