how did you compile the package? Can you give some more log (i.e. not
just the error)?
I've just recompiled it on my computer, with "debuild" (it's a
debian/rules wrapper), and everything went fine. Not an error, not even

I think this is a good idea. CPU frequency scaling should be enabled by
default, it seems like the Right Thing to do. I believe Ubuntu has had
it enabled by default for a long time now, so it should work.

Some more info, i tried the package from Testing instead of the one
from unstable and it seems to be working fine to.
So working ones are:
libgd2-xpm_2.0.34~rc1-2_i386.deb (testing)
libgd2-xpm_2.0.34-1_i386.deb (unstable)
And the broken one is:
libgd2-xpm_2.0.33-5.2_i386.deb (stable)
