I had this bug too (only 'generic printer' shown in openoffice's
printer list). I just restarted cupsys (with start && stop, not restart)
and then restarted oOo, and my printers magically respawn.
Maybe something wrong with the first start of cupsys?

You can set the dpi of a gdm session in /etc/gdm.conf (eg, look for
the setting of "command=" in the [server-Standard] section; just add "-dpi
110" or whatever).

First, you could start X with the correct dpi setting for your monitor
by editing /etc/gdm/gdm.conf - look for the [server-Standard] section

The conflict was solved at file level but apt-get still insists to remove

As of recently, apt-get seems to no longer be able to verify
