Hi,
Unfortunately I lost my old filesystem, so I upgraded fully to Debian AMD64. I no longer have a system capable of reproducing this bug nor enough hard disk to install one. I can't provide the extra information, sorry. On the good side, the driver worked straight away in the pure64 and gcc-3.4 distributions.
Thanks for your help,

Hi Mattia,
I'm running pure 32-bit (a standard i386 sid), except the kernel, which is 64-bit compiled by me with IA-32 support (I can't use Debian's because my laptop needs the USB hub's driver compiled in the kernel).
I emphasize that I'm not running any 64-bit code in userland at the moment.
Ok, it's more clear now.
Could send XFree86.0.log after running 'startx -- -logverbose 8'?
thanks
