It seems that upstream has recently (25 April 2015) added the support for mpv,
see: https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/pull/5521/files

Dear Maintainer,
please consider recommending mpv as an alternative media player in
addition to mplayer2 and mplayer. It looks like mpv might even replace
both players in Debian sometime since mpv based on mplayer and
mplayer2.
