hi, i tried this scenario on a virtual machine (installing squeeze then upgrade on wheezy) the same error occured. the i tried to install the failed package, and it had dependency errors (gcc-4.6 required but gcc-4.4 was to install). so i removed gcc and it installed immediately gcc-4.6 and 4

default-jre is installed as a dependancy of the Graphical Desktop Environment As a workaround installing Squeeze without the Graphical Desktop Environment for upgrading to Wheezy does sidestep the issue, but is not a solution as it would cause problems for anyone upgrading an existing Squeeze desk
