after some days without problems it broke again. note that i am not
rebooting this machine, but i plug in and out the external hd regularly.
point is that after commenting out the usb-uhci line in
/etc/hotplug/blacklist it immediatley worked again.

What happens if you comment this code in usb.rc instead?
