linked it to your report in Debian. Can you confirm whether the
problem still exists for you in Inkscape 0.48?

In my opinion this is not beautiful, but the bug itself has a workaround. Bug
for debian should be closed and opened in inkscape itself.

as I told before, I just rebuilded inkscape from lenny-2 source. No difference
in the behaviour.
And I apt-get gnome-bin. Either with no success.

let me have a question:
Are you using KDE oder GNOME or both on your machine?
I am running KDE with minimal gnome-bin. As I saw, inkscape is heavily
depending on gtk, maybe this is the trick?
Therefore I am trying to (re)build inkscape on my machine from source too.
