I forgot to mention the drives in question are on an old adaptec scsi card.
(no hardware RAID) aic79xxx is the kernel driver.
Maybe the software raid works on other boxes?

Attempts to start X without an xorg.conf result in a locked system and
Xorg.0.log file(s) 10's of megabytes in size.
Until I can get the file chopped down to something useful, this is what's
repeated. It fills most of the file.
If I disable glx, X start fine, no acceleration.

After the last update to a mixed Squeeze/Sid (KDE4 from Sid) I had this bug.
I deleted the knetworkmanagerrc file, started knetworkmanager --nofork and
still had the bug.
