I just tried using this file with the fortune-mod 9708
(1:1.99.1-3.1ubuntu3) and there appears to be no segfault. Any other
reason not to fold these into the standard databases?

Up until recently we'd just been happily using a stable build of Etch. Now
with the promise of various new features I'm looking into updating our
standard build to be Lenny, when it is released.
