As the subject says, my test build of boost using g++-4.2 with the patch I
sent in earlier worked, except that it generates *-gcc42-* libraries so the
install lists will need to be adjusted once gcc 4.2 becomes the default.

I found that if bjam was compiled with -fno-strict-aliasing, it didn't
segfault anymore. It seems the hash table code is what's violating the
strict aliasing rules.

Upon launching Update-Manager, the "Examining Your System" window
appears, but when it finishes (the status bar reaches full), both the
main window and the status window disappear. I ran update-manager from

When the underlying TCP connection gets broken and the SIGPIPE signal is
blocked, the ssl_write_all method loops forever instead of reporting the
error properly.

It kinda defeats the purpose of using -Werror and having a compiler clever
enough to output warnings about misuse of realloc(), if you are going to
"fix" it in a way that works around the warning while still being a misuse
of realloc()!

when I use gxine to read a DVB stream or a DVD in fullscreen mode, the
screen luminosity of my T40 laptop is set to the minimum after 1 or 2
seconds.
It is really annoying.
I do not have this problem with totem or xine.
