Tried the daily netinst cd at
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/sid_d-i/arch-latest/amd64/iso-cd/debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso
today and the same failure occurred.
I am abandoning the Debian effort. Fedora and SuSE are working fine
with bios raid and so will recommend from tho
Same failure, same driver, same sequence of events.
If this bug isn't going to be fixed or even given some attention, please
let me know so we can move on to other distros that do work.

Recap:
Partman correctly assembles bios raid 10 set and correctly finds VGs and
LVs and shows same in manual partitioning screens. However, partman
fails to mount / and kernel bugchecks with the same invalid opcode
previously reported in the md driver.

Same error, same place.
Installer sees the bios raid 10 device, sees the PV partition on it,
sees the LVs on it, but fails with the same error reported in this bug
when it tries to mount the LV on /target.
