I have a Intel DG965SS motherboard with a Core 2 Duo processor, a DVD RW
device on the IDE channel and two Sata drives. I also have a usb unit in
the floppy disk drive slot that allows me to load various forms of camera

Actually they don't, /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0 exists but this

llowed a recent thread on here which says parted isn't doing the right
thing, I tried again with the default boot but still no luck.
Is it possible to get round this manually? can I continue the installation in
any way?

/usr/sbin/mkinitrd: /dev/fd does not exist, mkinitrd failed
I got this error after compiling and then trying to install a new kernel
(2.6.4) on a working Debian Sid system.
I had previously (and successfully) done this.
Now I cannot boot, and trying to install ANY kernel, results in the same err
course it was trivial to delete
the two .bash files that it had created and tidy up afterwards )
