As a side effect I can't perform preseed installation anymore, installer
trying to get IPv6 address, fails and never assign IPv4 address despite the

Testing with Malayalam, the whole graphical interface indeed seems to
get stuck in
/usr/lib/apt-setup/generators/41cdset, at the
db_input high apt-setup/cdrom/set-first line (when going to VT2, then
