Hi,
nowadays ide-floppys are 'gone' and usually to replace files are used CDs, DVDs
and USB memory sticks, which are all very common. ide-floppys i don't recall
seeing any.
Since the bug was filled in 2008 there was no activity/patches so i guess
there's no interest.
Can this be closed?

While adding software speech synthesis support to d-i, I had to ship
alsa-utils' /etc/init.d/alsa-utils startup script, which unmutes the
audio card, but this script uses /lib/lsb/init-functions, which is not
shipped in d-i.

it's a laptop buttons driver which controls also the 'wifi' button for several
brands of laptops, most of them Acer and Fujitsu-Siemens.
Are you sure that the network failed due to that? Can you send installation
logs (gzipped) [1] ?
