I have this same problem with my laptop, a HP Pavilion ZE4502us.
I don't believe the problem is the keyboard locking up, but just not
being recognized by the kernel.

Is it possible that this freeze was caused by too heavy cpu load or by
some hardware issue?
The swap test does simply "ped_file_system_check". I don't know what
does this libparted function.

with the beta4. I have no problem when i install (linux kernel2.4) on
the same pc (an vaio pcgfx702).
