Hi Peter,
OpenCL was not installed/enabled, but doing that did not fix the issue.
I also generated the thumbnail images with darktable-generate-cache
--max-mip 8 - same result.
The problem occurs on Manjaro Linux (git master 3.5.0+1747~gc22f6a90e)
and also the non-git release (3.5.0+1681~g6de

Hi all,
I read the section on developing on the website and have 2 questions:
1) Do you prefer patches or pull requests?
2) Can somebody tell me (or at least point me to a good source) how I
can compile and run the code in an IDE, preferebly Codeblocks? So far I
edited the code in my IDE but for

Thanks,
I was also confused why it was "dirty" every time I did a clean update. Hope
that is resolved now.

Hi there,
I am also not a developer but leaving a few more comments in the code
might already help a lot.
I tried to make sense of a few things and I saw very little
annotations/comments, which made it quite hard to understand what was
going on. Just as an example, the function that calculates the
Hi Matthias,
there are 2 ways to delete pictures. You can just remove them from your catalog
or truely delete them from your disk.
You probably used the first option. That is why they were still inside the
folder when you moved it and so they showed up again.
Your edits are stored in xmp files.
Sorry, but is this about darktable taking ages to import 500.000 for the first
time or about darktable being slow AFTER the import?
If it is the first case then there is nothing wrong - do the import over night
or interrupt it and continue next day. That is a huge amount of images and it

Hi Christian,
regarding 1) that issue is not limited to tagging but general darktable
behavior. We are discussing an alternative right now here:
https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/6025
I don't use tagging a lot so I cannot talk about the other points but opening

Was just asking myself why the next version of darktable is 4.0 and not 3.10?
Will there be a major change to the software or do we just prefer shorter
numbers?
Best regards, Jan

Hi everyone,
I have had a few GitHub issues closed on me after 300 days of idle time. Even
if a bug report or feature request is still valid and of interest to me, after
that time I typically forget about them and I cannot extend their time before
they get closed.
Can we implement a reminder me
