selecting several files and pressing "delete" removes the files from the
collection and the library.db, changes xxx.xmp xmp:Rating="-1", but
doesn't delete the files.

Have you made sure you have a clean build? Deleting your build/
directory as well as your install directory (e.g., /opt/darktable/)

Note: there is a problem with the libosmgpsmap-1.0-dev package from trusty
backports (installed above). It is missing the pkg-config file that
darktable uses to find the library. So to create it:
