I am running cvs under Cygwin on XP and get the following message when
checking out:
cvs [checkout aborted]: cannot rename file CVS/Entries.Backup to
CVS/Entries: Permission denied
The checkout stops. If I resume it it seems continue from where it left off,
but the problem recurs.
The prob
P.S. I tried CYGWIN=nontsec and that didn't affect the results.

I'm not running WinCVS, or anything else that knows about those
directories (in fact, CVS just created the directories). I don't have an
Explorer open to those directories.

This is an old issue but we figured out where the cause of the problem
was: a Veritas backup agent. I tried setting the backup operations to
manual, but that wasn't enough. It also wasn't enough that the directory
where I was doing my cvs checkout wasn't even selected for backup. I had
