Right after it asks me for password of my host the 'building file

Any ideas?
I was having rsync issues under C

Indeed! :-/
For example I use:
rsync -avz --progress --delete --exclude=2008 --exclude=mactex*
--exclude=Mac* tug.org::texlive/tlnet/ /tmp/tl2009_repo
Just a curiosity...

Hi. I just updated to 1.7 to see if it solved problems that I've
been struggling with for a while with rsync hanging randomly on
different files. I use rsync excessively, and on some systems it just
works and never hangs-- but on some it hangs all the time. I'm

the `sshd' may cause cpu usage up to 100%.
On some computer, most of the server, such as sshd, rsyncd, etc, can
not work correctly.

When debugging, it's usually better to start at a high level rather than jumping
into the guts of things, unless you could tell us all the
rsync keeps hanging on me - never gets off the ground (doesn't print
the ("creating file list" message) - strace shows it hangs here:
33 120271067 [main] rsync 3236 cygwin_select: sel.always_ready 0
65 120271132 [main] rsync 3236 start_thread_socket: Handle 0x6D8
32 120271164 [main] rsync
Thanks for al the feedback. It sounds like an issue with the
application owning the files - the client told me today that they are
getting similar messages even though no users are connected.

Several months ago set up a remote backup for a client. The remote
server, running OpenSuSe 11, runs rsync over ssh to two remote servers
in the same location. One server is Linux (a variant of CentOS 4.6),
while the other is a Windows 2008 server box. Until last week,
everything was worki
