result you seem to want, so there is some auto-escaping
If I use the package search on the Cygwin website to search for
`\+\+\.la`, then as expected, the results[0] include
mingw-gcc-g++-4.5.2-1, which includes the file
`usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-mingw32/4.5.2/debug/libstdc++.la`
